The Repose of the night does not belong to us

2024, 74”X59”, Colour pigment used for tablets, capsules and syrups on Saunders water colour paper

The artist confronts the twilight space between nocturnal alertness and deep sleep slumber, between darkness and light. She pours pharmaceutical pigment onto paper, allowing it to settle into its own organic patterns. Across this surface, she maps a tessellated mesh of her own brain digitally dissected multiple times and unravelled to be laid flat on this two-dimensional surface. The line that oscillates between wakefulness and slumber is never equal, precariously shifting between our conscious and unconscious selves.
